Inn on the Lake

Resting on the northern shore of the third largest Finger Lake is the city of Canandaigua. Canandaigua, whose name means “the chosen spot” in Iroquois, is an ideal summer vacation destination, replete with boating activities, wine tours, the Victorian Sonnenberg mansion and gardens, and breathtaking lakeside views.

Enjoy a stroll down Canandaigua’s historic Main Street, with its exquisite boutiques and beautiful art galleries. Nearby Ontario County Park offers a beautiful setting for a family picnic, as well as scenic hiking trails. For the historically inclined, be sure to visit the Ontario County Historical Society, don’t miss the Granger Homestead and Carriage Museum, with its elegant 19th century architecture and interiors.

Traveling with kids? Then be sure to visit Roseland Water Park—the perfect way to cool off during a hot, August day! Or stop at the nearby Kershaw Park, with its public swimming area, walking trails, tots’ playground, and more.

If boating is your preference, enjoy a meal or cocktails aboard the Canandaigua Lady—replica of a 19th century double-decker paddleboat. Or hop on Captain Gray's Boat Tours and listen to the legend and lore of our beautiful lake while you float by some of the area's most magnificent lakefront homes. Or try your own hand at the helm by renting a boat from one of the many local marinas.

Visiting from Rochester, or from further away? Why not make it a relaxing, weekend getaway? Come for the Friday- and Sunday-night concerts, and have the weekend to yourself to explore the enchantment of Canandaigua! The area boasts first-class restaurants and accommodations, such as the stunning Inn on the Lake, as well as numerous bed-and-breakfast locations.
