EDWARD KLORMAN, VIOLA AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
A native of Rochester, violist Edward Klorman is a multi-faceted artist, scholar, and leader in the music community. As soloist, he has performed as in Eastman Theatre, with the Rochester Chamber Orchestra, and with New York’s Camerata Notturna and as co-soloist with Stefan Jackiw for Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. An avid chamber musician, he has collaborated with such renowned artists as Claude Frank, Joseph Kalischstein, Lowell Liebermann, and Bright Sheng, and he has appeared as guest artist with the Borromeo, Corigliano, Orion, and Ying Quartets.
A committed educator, Mr. Klorman is Associate Chair of Music Theory at The Juilliard School, where he also serves on the chamber music faculty. He teaches viola as an adjunct lecturer at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College and previously served on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music. He has presented illuminating lectures and masterclasses worldwide at venues including the Salzburg Mozarteum, Université de Montréal, the International Viola Congress, and the Society for Music Theory.
